Ponsse, a leading name in forest machinery, is set to showcase a range of new technologies and solutions at the FinnMETKO 2024 exhibition in Jämsä. The event will feature Ponsse’s latest advancements, including new forwarders, harvester heads, and innovative material concepts aimed at enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of forest operations.

The company will unveil its new forwarders, the Ponsse Elk and Ponsse Wisent, alongside the Ponsse H7 harvester head. These machines are designed to improve productivity and operational comfort for forest machine operators.

New Forwarders and Harvester Head

The Ponsse Wisent forwarder is engineered for versatility and productivity, suitable for various harvesting environments. Its design ensures excellent weight distribution and manoeuvrability, making it effective even in dense and challenging terrain. Meanwhile, the Ponsse Elk is built for reliability and efficiency over long distances, featuring a robust load-carrying capacity relative to its weight. Both forwarders come with a spacious cabin equipped with features like the Ponsse Seat, which reduces operator fatigue, and the Ponsse Active Cabin, a suspension system that enhances comfort on uneven terrain.

The Ponsse H7 harvester head, another highlight, boasts improved power and efficiency. Its advanced geometry and the new Ponsse Active Speed function allow for precise adjustments based on tree species and stem diameter, enhancing productivity and ease of use.

Sustainable Innovations

In a bid to support sustainability, Ponsse is introducing a material concept that incorporates fossil-free steel produced by SSAB. The load space of the Ponsse Buffalo forwarder is made from this innovative material, which is part of the FORWARD27 ecosystem project. This development marks Ponsse as the first forest machinery manufacturer to use fossil-free steel, underscoring its commitment to reducing environmental impact.

Enhanced Operator Experience

Ponsse is also focusing on improving ergonomics and user experience. The new adjustable Ponsse Armrests and eArmrests offer customised comfort, reducing strain on the operator’s body. Additionally, the Ponsse Active Crane, now available for C5 and C6 loaders, simplifies crane operation by reducing the need for manual control of joint movements, further enhancing ease of use.

Advanced Positioning and Digital Solutions

Ponsse is introducing the High-Precision Positioning system, which provides accurate location data for both the machine and harvester head. This technology improves harvesting productivity by allowing operators to clearly identify and manage harvesting areas. The system will initially be available in Finland, Sweden, and Germany, with plans to expand further.

The company is also launching the Ponsse Scale, a wireless loader scale system that ensures accurate weight measurements and detailed load data management. This system is weather-resistant and provides reliable performance in various conditions.

Ponsse Manager 2.0, the company’s next-generation digital platform, offers comprehensive machine management capabilities, including tracking location, productivity, and fuel consumption. The platform also supports transportation planning through the Siirrot PRO application, enhancing operational efficiency and cost management.

The exhibition will provide a platform for Ponsse to demonstrate these innovations and showcase its commitment to advancing forest machinery technology while supporting sustainable practices.
