Lord Robert Newborough, the owner of the renowned Rhug Estate in North Wales, has been awarded a Global Recognition Award for his outstanding contributions to sustainable agriculture and food production.
The 12,500-acre estate, situated near Corwen in Denbighshire, has become a benchmark for organic farming, combining high environmental standards with commercial success. Judges praised Lord Newborough’s “exceptional leadership and innovative contributions” in the sector, describing his approach as “visionary” and instrumental in elevating the Rhug Estate brand to global prominence.
The judging panel included industry experts such as Anthony Spon-Smith, Creative Director at Coco Republic, and journalist Mae Cornes from ABS-CBN Corporation. Their citation highlighted Lord Newborough’s unwavering commitment to sustainable practices, stating:
“His leadership in organic farming has created a model operation that balances respect for natural ecosystems with productive agriculture. The Estate’s organic farm has received industry-wide recognition and a Royal Warrant, confirming its exceptional environmental management standards and animal welfare practices.”

In addition to his work in agriculture, Lord Newborough has overseen the success of Rhug’s Wild Beauty collection, an organic skincare range that earned him the Health and Beauty Entrepreneur Award at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards.
