Crossbank Dental Care Launches Tree-Planting Initiative with Cumbria Wildlife Trust
Kendal’s Crossbank Dental Care is taking an innovative approach to environmental sustainability by partnering with Cumbria Wildlife Trust in an initiative aimed at enhancing the region’s natural landscape. Their “Implant a Tree” campaign pledges to plant a tree for every dental implant placed over the course of a year, merging dental health with ecological responsibility.
Cumbria Wildlife Trust, a leading voluntary organisation dedicated to the conservation of the county’s wildlife and landscapes, is the ideal partner for this green initiative. The “Implant a Tree” scheme aligns with Crossbank Dental Care’s commitment to sustainability and follows their recent recognition as green pioneers in the dental sector. The practice has achieved green benchmark certification for its efforts in sustainable bulk purchasing, transitioning to reusable and recyclable materials, and significantly reducing its waste, packaging, and transportation emissions. Furthermore, their carbon footprint has been reduced through the installation of solar panels, low-carbon heating solutions, and enhanced insulation.
The initiative aims to carefully reintroduce trees into Cumbrian landscapes that have previously suffered from depletion. The benefits of planting trees are manifold, including reducing soil erosion and flooding, supporting vital pollinators and wildlife, and capturing carbon to help mitigate climate change. With tree-planting season now underway, Crossbank Dental Care is preparing to see the first saplings from their “Implant a Tree” initiative take root, contributing to important habitat restoration efforts across the county.
Bex Cooper, Director of Crossbank Dental Care, expressed her enthusiasm for the project. “We thought matching tree planting with the life-enhancing implants we place every day was a great way to give something back, and the scheme is proving really popular with our patients,” she stated. Cooper’s personal commitment to environmental conservation was ignited during the “30 Days Wild” challenge, where she created a wildlife pond to raise awareness for Cumbria Wildlife Trust.
“It’s thrilling to think that our first saplings are about to move from the nursery to the fellside. Great oaks start as little acorns, and these carbon-capture heroes could help combat climate change for decades, even centuries, to come,” Cooper added.
Crossbank Dental Care invites members of the community to learn more about the “Implant a Tree” initiative by contacting the practice directly. Cooper, who is known for her hands-on approach, expressed her eagerness to participate in the planting process. “30 Days Wild showed us that we can all make a practical difference, so getting involved in planting our trees is something we’re looking forward to. Whether through the surgery, the community, or family, it’s wonderful to think that by joining together, we can make a lasting impact on our planet while transforming smiles and lives,” she said.
As the dental practice continues to focus on sustainability, the partnership with Cumbria Wildlife Trust serves as a significant step towards creating a greener future for the region and beyond.
