Risen Storage has introduced a new flexible energy storage solution, eFlex, at World Smart Energy Week 2025 in Tokyo. The system is designed for international markets, including Europe, North America, and Japan, offering high performance, modularity, and adaptability to meet diverse energy demands.
The eFlex system features a minimum building block of 836 kWh, which can be expanded to 6.7MWh per system. Its compact design, liquid cooling technology, and high energy density make it an efficient solution for areas with limited space and challenging infrastructure.
Optimised for Space and Efficiency
One of the key advantages of eFlex is its maximised energy density and compact footprint, ensuring optimal space utilisation. The liquid-cooled technology enhances efficiency while reducing land requirements, making it particularly beneficial for urban locations where space is scarce.
The system’s modular structure supports parallel connections of up to eight units, allowing for customisable energy capacities to suit different applications. This flexibility ensures that energy storage can be scaled up or down depending on the needs of businesses and grid operators.
Adaptability in Extreme Conditions
Designed to perform in diverse climates, eFlex operates in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 55°C, ensuring consistent reliability in regions prone to extreme weather conditions. It is also built to withstand seismic activity with IP55-rated protection, making it suitable for deployment in earthquake-prone areas.
“Many global regions have unique infrastructure challenges, from dense urban areas in Japan to remote rural locations in Europe and North America,” said a Risen Storage spokesperson. “eFlex is designed to offer reliable, efficient, and scalable energy storage solutions that can adapt to these varying conditions.”
Simplified Transport and Installation
The ease of transportation and installation is another highlight of the eFlex system. Its modular and liquid-cooled design makes it cost-effective to transport across varied terrains, including rural Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, and North America.
By reducing installation time and costs, eFlex provides a more accessible and flexible energy storage solution for both urban and off-grid locations.
Meeting Global Safety and Certification Standards
Safety is a core feature of eFlex, which meets stringent international standards, including UL9540, UL9540A, CE, and NFPA 68/69. The system is also equipped with MSD fuses, explosion-proof valves, and intelligent battery management units (BMUs) to ensure long-term reliability and protection.
As the global demand for energy storage solutions continues to grow, Risen Storage’s eFlex system is positioned as a key player in enabling sustainable, flexible, and efficient energy management.
With its scalable architecture, high safety standards, and adaptability to diverse markets, eFlex is expected to be a significant addition to the evolving energy storage landscape.
