Sportswear brand PUMA has launched a new podcast series called Green Flags, aimed at engaging younger audiences on the topic of sustainability. Hosted by Manchester United captain Maya Le Tissier, fashion and lifestyle expert Oli Bromfield, and former professional footballer turned content creator Moses Duckrell, the series explores how everyday actions can positively impact the planet.

In the five-part series, the hosts take on sustainability challenges, including upcycling and generating electricity from potatoes, as they compete to earn “green flags” for their efforts. The podcast is designed to educate listeners on simple actions that can reduce environmental footprints and promote climate-conscious living.

“I’m so excited to be a part of this podcast which brings sustainability to the forefront of Gen Z listeners. It’s a lot of fun to complete the sustainability challenges and learn more about the small changes we can all make to fight climate change,” said Le Tissier.

The challenges, designed to be playful and engaging, cover a wide range of sustainability topics. Each week, the trio faces a new challenge and earns green flags based on their efforts, creating a fun, competitive atmosphere while raising awareness about the importance of sustainability.

Anne-Laure Descours, Chief Sourcing Officer at PUMA, highlighted the importance of collective action in addressing the climate crisis. “The climate crisis can seem overwhelming, however, all of us have the power to make better decisions for the future of our planet, no matter how small. It’s vital that we travel this journey towards a FOREVER. BETTER. together with our next generation to create awareness and inspire collective change,” she said.

The first episode of Green Flags, titled “The Carbon Crunch,” explores the surprising ways everyday activities like breakfast choices and commuting contribute to greenhouse gas emissions. Future episodes will cover a variety of topics, from the environmental impact of fashion and leather products to the importance of renewable energy.

Upcoming episodes include:

  • The Wardrobe Revival: Focusing on repairing and revamping clothes to reduce waste.
  • Lessons in Leather: A deep dive into the environmental impact of different materials.
  • The Renewable Electricity Experiment: A challenge to generate electricity using unconventional methods.
  • The RE:FIBRE Makeover: Featuring upcycled outfits and an introduction to circular textile production.

The final episode of the series will crown the winner of the Green Flags challenge, highlighting PUMA’s commitment to sustainability. This launch follows the company’s earlier sustainability targets, including their 10FOR25 initiative and new Vision 2030 goals, which focus on human rights, circularity, and climate action.
