CRRC Corporation Limited (CRRC), a leading Chinese manufacturer in the renewable energy sector, presented its latest wind-solar-hydrogen-storage integration solutions at WindEnergy Hamburg 2024. At Booth 241 in Hall B7 of the Hamburg Messe und Congress, CRRC’s display drew significant attention, showcasing how electricity generated from wind and photovoltaic (PV) sources can be integrated into urban power grids. The surplus energy is either stored in an energy storage system or used for hydrogen production, which the company demonstrated live at the event.

The comprehensive exhibit underscored CRRC’s commitment to a green, low-carbon, and sustainable ecosystem. The technology giant showcased its full process of energy generation, storage, and application, aiming to highlight its ability to provide customised solutions for a range of scenarios. These solutions are designed to accelerate the transition to carbon neutrality, aligning with global efforts towards reducing emissions.

CRRC has built a strong portfolio across the renewable energy sector, covering wind power, photovoltaic systems, hydrogen production, and energy storage. Wind turbines remain the core of its business, forming the cornerstone of a technology and industry chain that spans the entire clean electricity process – from generation and transmission to distribution and usage.

China’s Role in Global Wind Power

In 2023, China contributed 60% of all new global wind power capacity, a figure that reflects the nation’s growing leadership in renewable energy. CRRC, a pioneer in the Chinese wind power manufacturing industry, has developed a complete industrial chain and extensive product range for wind energy. The company offers over 80 models of wind turbines, including its flagship products, which range from 1.5 MW to 12 MW for onshore use and 8 MW to 20 MW for offshore applications. CRRC’s equipment is used in over 260 wind farms worldwide, with a total installed capacity exceeding 13,000 units.

Earlier this year, CRRC’s position as a global leader in renewable energy was reinforced when Brinckmann (BM), a leading renewable energy consulting firm, ranked the company as the top manufacturer of wind turbine generators globally.

Innovations in Photovoltaic and Hydrogen Energy

CRRC has also made significant strides in the photovoltaic (PV) industry, developing a range of centralised and string inverters, with over 50GW of capacity delivered globally. Its PV products, built using core rail transit technologies, are used in a variety of environments, from large desert power plants to industrial and commercial rooftops, across more than 20 countries.

As renewable energy generation rises, the need for flexible and efficient hydrogen systems has grown. CRRC’s green power-to-hydrogen technology maintains a balance between energy production and hydrogen generation, helping to address the intermittency of wind and solar power. The system utilises wind-solar forecasting and intelligent scheduling to provide safe and efficient solutions.

Energy Storage Solutions

Energy storage plays a crucial role in stabilising renewable energy systems. CRRC has developed the 5.X liquid-cooling energy storage system, which has a single-cabin capacity of 5 MWh and boasts a converter efficiency of up to 99%. This system enhances power reliability and reduces energy waste from wind and solar sources.

CRRC’s innovative solutions position it as a global leader, driving the shift towards cleaner energy and a sustainable future.
