VitrA Tiles has successfully commissioned its Aksaray solar power plant, reinforcing its long-term commitment to renewable energy development.
As a key division of the Eczacıbaşı Group, VitrA Tiles continues its efforts to reduce its environmental impact. The commissioning of the Aksaray Solar Power Plant (SPP) follows the 3.5 MW rooftop solar plant in Bozüyük, which began operations in 2023. With a 30 MWe/36 MWp capacity, the Aksaray facility ensures that over half of the electricity used in its Turkish operations this year will be sourced from sustainable energy.
Investing in Clean Energy for a Sustainable Tomorrow
The newly established Aksaray SPP will generate enough power to sustain around 19,700 households annually. Featuring 65,520 PV modules, each with a 550 Wp capacity, it is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 37,190 tonnes per year.
VitrA Tiles CEO Mert Karasu emphasised the company’s sustainability goals, stating: “We aim to produce half of our electricity consumption from our own renewable energy facilities by 2025 and all of it by 2030 and thanks to this investment, we are one step closer to our global goals by further reducing our carbon footprint. We are committed to meeting all our electricity needs from renewable sources in the future.”
The construction of the Aksaray SPP started in April 2024, with electricity generation beginning in February 2025 after the installation of PV modules, inverters, transformers, cabling, and power transmission lines. This investment will strengthen VitrA Tiles’ position as a leader in the sustainable energy sector.
