Freepoint Eco-Systems International Ltd. has announced the opening of a new office in Düsseldorf, Germany, marking a significant step in the company’s expansion into Northwestern Europe. Officially opened on 1 September, the Düsseldorf office aims to strengthen Freepoint Eco-Systems’ footprint in Germany, the largest market for plastic recycling in Europe.

The Düsseldorf office represents a key component of Freepoint Eco-Systems’ strategy to enhance its advanced recycling operations across the continent. This move follows the company’s recent entry into the European market, including a major concession agreement with North Sea Port. This agreement will see the development of Freepoint’s flagship recycling facility in Ghent, Belgium, which is expected to divert 80,000 metric tons of waste plastic from incineration annually. The facility will recycle this waste into new plastic products and packaging, furthering Freepoint’s commitment to a circular economy.

In addition to the Ghent facility, Freepoint Eco-Systems has announced plans for cooperation with Renewi to develop waste plastic sorting and treatment infrastructure to support its large-scale operations in Belgium. The new Düsseldorf office is another strategic milestone in Freepoint’s growth, reinforcing its leadership in the global circular economy for plastics.

Oscar M. Gutiérrez, President of Freepoint Eco-Systems International, highlighted the importance of the new office: “Establishing an office in Germany is a vital step in our international growth strategy. This move underscores our commitment to building a strong European platform and improving our service to customers in the region.”

Jacco de Haas, Chief Commercial Officer, Recycling Europe at Freepoint Eco-Systems, emphasised the strategic nature of the Düsseldorf location: “Germany is the largest and most advanced plastic recycling market in Europe, making it a logical choice for our new office. This hub will facilitate plastic waste trading activities, help us forge and maintain crucial partnerships in Northwestern Europe, and secure feedstock for our recycling facilities across the continent.”

The Düsseldorf office will operate in tandem with Freepoint Commodities’ existing European offices in London, Zug, and Geneva. It will focus exclusively on advanced recycling activities, particularly in sourcing plastic waste feedstock for Freepoint Eco-Systems’ facilities in Europe.

This expansion is part of Freepoint Eco-Systems’ broader strategy to establish a robust European presence and contribute to the growing efforts towards sustainable plastic recycling.
