A new book featuring insights from 36 global figures aims to deepen public understanding of the climate crisis and inspire action towards a more sustainable future.

What Will YOUR Legacy Be? – Conversations With Global Game Changers About The Climate Crisis, written by award-winning author and communications professional Sangeeta Waldron, brings together perspectives from scientists, activists, business leaders, musicians, and more. The book highlights both the challenges posed by climate change and the solutions being implemented by individuals, communities, and organisations worldwide.

Among those featured are Ingmar Rentzhog, CEO and founder of climate action network We Don’t Have Time; musician and philanthropist Julian Lennon; NASA climate scientist Dr Kimberley Miner; environmentalist Sunita Narain; naturalist Rachel Cartwright; and indigenous Waorani leader Nemonte Nenquimo. Through these conversations, Waldron provides practical insights and takeaway tips to encourage readers to adopt a sustainable mindset.

Speaking about her latest work, Waldron said: “My book shows that there is still hope and belief that we can make progress on the climate crisis. I spoke to 36 brilliant minds who generously shared their knowledge and perspective. They come from diverse backgrounds, including a researcher on humpback whales, the former head of the British Army’s Centre for Army Leadership discussing how climate change is shaping military strategy, and a range of artists, food experts, and songwriters.

“This book is part of my legacy, and I hope that after reading it, people will be inspired to consider their own legacy for the planet. As Ernest Hemingway once said, ‘The Earth is a fine place and worth fighting for.’”

The book has received praise from Mark Seddon, director of the Centre for UN Studies at the University of Buckingham and former speechwriter for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. He described it as “an essential read” for anyone feeling overwhelmed by climate change and the urgent need for action.

“This book spoke to the optimist in me,” he said. “It is an easy and passionate read. You can’t help but feel inspired by the different conversations with thought leaders, campaigners, musicians, and authors. Sangeeta Waldron’s masterful book will hopefully inspire readers to take action to tackle the climate crisis.”

This is Waldron’s third book and follows her previous work, Corporate Social Responsibility Is Not Public Relations, which was shortlisted for the UK Business Book Awards in 2022. She is a multi-award-winning communications expert specialising in climate change, sustainability, and corporate social responsibility, and has been trained as a Climate Reality Leader by former US Vice President Al Gore.

In What Will YOUR Legacy Be?, Waldron takes readers on a journey to understand the environmental changes shaping the planet and challenges them to consider the impact they want to leave for future generations.
