Ekoten Tekstil, a subsidiary of Sun Tekstil and a major player in textile production, is advancing its sustainability efforts through artificial intelligence (AI). By integrating AI-driven defect detection, the company ensures superior fabric quality while significantly reducing waste. This innovative real-time monitoring system increases accuracy, optimises material use, and minimises the environmental impact of textile production.
“Our AI-driven systems allow us to detect and correct textile defects before they lead to unnecessary reprocessing, reducing waste and optimising resource use,” said Sabri Ünlütürk, Vice Chairman of the Board of Sun Tekstil and Ekoten Tekstil. “This technology strengthens both efficiency and sustainability in our manufacturing processes.”
Water Efficiency Through AI in Textile Production
The textile industry is one of the most water-dependent industries, with dyeing and finishing processes contributing to nearly 20% of global industrial water pollution. Ekoten Tekstil’s AI system helps mitigate this issue by detecting defects early, reducing the need for re-dyeing and reprocessing, ultimately saving water.
As water shortages become a growing concern globally, conservation efforts are critical. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that droughts affect 55 million people each year, exacerbating global water scarcity. By improving operational efficiency and limiting excess water use, Ekoten Tekstil plays an active role in sustainability efforts.
Commitment to Environmental and Social Responsibility
Ekoten Tekstil’s sustainability initiatives extend beyond water conservation. The company has once again received an A rating from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Climate Change assessment, surpassing the textile industry’s global B average and the worldwide C rating. Additionally, it has maintained an A/Leadership ranking in the CDP Supplier Engagement Ranking for three consecutive years, reinforcing its position as one of the world’s top sustainable supply chain leaders.
The company also champions diversity and inclusivity in the workplace, ensuring women hold key roles in both leadership and production. This focus on workforce inclusivity aligns with Ekoten Tekstil’s long-term strategy of integrating innovation with responsible business practices.
“Innovation is not just about technology—it’s also about fostering an inclusive and forward-thinking workplace,” Ünlütürk said. “At Ekoten Tekstil, we believe that sustainable success comes from both operational advancements and a diverse, empowered workforce.”
Through continued investment in AI, sustainability, and inclusivity, Ekoten Tekstil is shaping a responsible and forward-thinking future for textile manufacturing.
